Anivide Forum Rules and Guidelines:

Here are some basic rules and guidelines that each anivider should follow and use as basis for their actions.

Penalties will depend on the judgment of moderators or admins.

Note: Please pay attention to some sticky threads in forums as they may contain forum-specific rules and/or guidelines. *still not functioning as new mods are yet to be hired*

Rules:

1.) Never spam
Spamming through pm or even through posting in the forums can lead to banishment.

2.) Don't advertise
You're not here just to advertise a product. Never sign up for the sole purpose of advertising a product. Some quantities of this will be tolerated in small quantities so long as you've shown that you're an active member of the site, although this will still be subjected to judgment by mods or admins.

3.) No flaming nor trolling.
Debating is fine, but if the topic has been reduced to a "yes/no" thread, then show some maturity and be the first one to leave it. Flamewars are absolutely pointless and doesn't give anything good for the site.

Trolling is also prohibited as it is pointlessly asking for a flamewar.

4.) Be cautious in hotlinking.
Don't put up hyperlinks that lead to sites with viruses, illegal videos/games/movies or even pornographic sites. Doing so will subject you to banishment from the forums.

5.) Don't mislead people.
Don't ever claim things that aren't true like "I'm an admin", "I'm a mod", or other person in authority inside or outside this site. In quoting, never include words that were not said by the quoted person. In short, never invent things that aren't true.

-------------------------------

Guidelines:

1.) Be nice.
Don't be rude. Accept the fact that not everyone agrees on something. respect their views and opinions.

2.) Be friendly.
At least show a certain level of friendliness. If someone asks to be your friend, (unless you have a very good reason to reject) accept. Most members here are here to socialize and to meet new people that probably share the same interests as them, so no need to be rude at all times. We are all here to have fun.

3.) Grammar and Spelling.
Understand that not all people have the same or even greater mastery of the English or even other languages than *you* do. Thus, avoid pointing those little mistakes too much as they often lead to insults, flames, and pointless arguments.

Likewise, if you know that you're not so good in grammar and spelling, try to keep your posts short and simple. try to avoid long statements as it will make it all the more difficult for readers to understand them.

4.) No insults.
Please refrain from giving out insults to your fellow anividers. always remember that behind those usernames, avatars, and posts, are human beings like you. show some level of maturity.

5.) Avoid going "off-topic".
Sometimes these are necessary and tolerable, but "too much" of anything is always bad, so I suggest we all try to refrain and avoid abusing our ability to post in threads. Respect the idea of the thread author and try to stick to the topic.

6.) No racism, gender or any other forms of discrimination.
Express your "views" but don't abuse in a sense that you're already degrading the humanity of that person. Discrimination is a form of insult, and Anivide is better off without it.

7.) Signal Spoilers.
Luffy-dono created the spoiler tag for a reason (see feedback and help section for more details on this tag) and this is to avoid spoiling important plots to viewers or readers. Keep in mind that not all people are finished with that series or even updated. Avoid giving away spoilers unless they're really really needed.

8.) Do not publicly post important personal information.
Always remember that this is the internet. You'll never know who will see these stuff and where they'll use them. Always be careful in giving away important information as this might lead to certain dangers.

9.) Avoid threatening people.
Avoid threats like "I'm going to spam you," or "I'm going to hack you," because these can put you into a lot of trouble. If your intention is just for a joke, then indicate it. These threats can be taken seriously and be used as proof against you.

10.) Mods are here for a reason.
Moderators are helpful people as well as enforcers of rules here in the forums. Respect their authority at all times. If your thread is locked, your post is deleted, your account is banned, you are given a warning, etc, take them seriously but avoid getting angry about it. Mods are merely doing their job. Likewise, feel free to report moderators who have been abusive or unjust. PM other mods or Luffy-dono himself.

11.) Don't abuse bumps.
Bumping up a thread that hasn't had a new post in over a month (unless said thread is still on the first page) = 1 Necro

There will be a limit of 5 necros in each section per week. If you go over that limit, all necroing posts after the first 5 will be deleted and you will be sent a warning. If you continue to necro in that week, or post over the limit in a later week, you will be immediately banned for one day. If it happens again, then you'll be banned for a week. And after that a month. Then finally, banned permanently. If you make a second a account an use that for necroing, it will be permabanned on the spot, and if a third one is made, you will receive an IP ban.

If a necro is deemed by the moderators to be of a high enough quality, it will be left alone and not count toward your limit.

12.) Try to always be clear.
If you don't want to be misunderstood or be insulted, always try to make your thread titles and posts as clear as possible. Avoid using illogical and unrelated thread titles as they often confuse people and will be subjected to thread editing by mods or admins.

13.) Avoid abusing caps lock.
Capitalizing words mean emphasis and stress. Most of the time it means you're shouting. Too much use of this technique is also annoying to a certain degree and thus should be avoided.

14.) Observe good netiquette.
Show ethics in the internet. Show that you are a respectable person whether or not your identity is known. Show humility, respect and maturity in your posts...

15.) Learn to use the report function.
Reporting threads or posts that are not following the rules and guidelines is a good help for mods and admins alike.

16.) Avoid posting sexual/malicious images or posts.
Sexual/malicious images will not be tolerated and thus will be subjected to the judgment of a moderator or admin. If a post is unreasonably and/or unconsiderately talking about something sexual/malicious, then it will also be subjected to the judgment of a moderator or admin.

17.) Observe proper acknowledgement.
Whenever you are ripping an information off from a source, it is adviceable to acknowledge them and give due credit for their information.

18.) No Personal attack threads or account.

Any thread dedicated to the degradation of another user will be locked and any account doing the same will be banned (once the ban system is up and running again).
Note: This is made with the caveat that should the target of said attacks agree to their existence, no action will taken (I do so enjoy my hate threads).

19.) No auto-playing YouTube videos in the forums.

Any auto-playing youtube videos contained in any posts with have the auto-play feature removed from them, unless said video is placed within a spoiler.
Note: This rule also applies to signatures, but not to profiles.

-------------------------------

Note: Don't post in this thread unless it's for adding new guidelines, or complaints about the current ones. Other posts that aren't needed here will be deleted without warning (you have been warned).

Note: User-suggested guidelines will be subjected to judgment by a moderator or admin. If proven to worth it, it will then be added to the first post as an update.

Note: Questions will be entertained in this thread

no... those are considered real discussions and are intended for that kinds of stuff... what I meant are posts that include images that are non-tolerable... like images that contain women not wearing anything... or posts that are detailing a "bed" scene... those won't be allowed in the forums... number 16 is a guideline, so breaking it doesn't exactly lead to certain punishments... but once abused, consequences are bound to come...

I believe you misunderstood that note... I was referring to this thread... I want this thread to be as clean as possible... I want to do away with unnecessary posts such as "thanks for the rules" or "ok..." or "i disagree" or such... those are not needed in this thread and thus should be deleted...

well, to give you a hint... one example of "pm" spam is a message that contains "Hi!!! can I be your friend?" has been sent by a single person 20x... would you want that to happen to you?? no... and then another example is a post in the forum that contains "hmmm... eh?" that is posted consecutively for 7 posts... those are pointless and are obviously just there to attract attention... that's why those who will do those can be subjected to banishment...

well, if you're talking about the forum games section... I think we can't really do something about that... that section is there for the purpose of having fun... and users see spamming and pointlessly posting as fun... so in a sense, they are free to do whatever they want there... but of course with moderation still...

If you was to follow these rules that you posted. I would have to say that a lot of people would be kicked from this site by now. I'm taking this as more of a bluff to make it seem like Mods and whatnot are impotent....

Plus the fact that if anyone for some reason got banned they could make a new Account anyway. With that said I'm going back to anime forums are dumb anyway. Just had to throw my two scents worth.

excuse me sir, but you are technically mixing the rules and guidelines together... I hope you know the difference of the two... rules are laws, and guidelines are guides to proper conduct... I hope that cleared things up...

excuse me sir, but have you ever been to other anime forums aside from anivide?? I've been to a few good forums and I've gotta say I disagree with your statement... and besides, I'm envisioning a more mature and intellectual anivide community from the changes that are happening here...

"Then with this I think there was a couple of people that posted links to movies that where Illegal "DBZ""

Then guide lines is BS do to that fact that most of the people on this site are still young. Then there others from different countries that are still bad with the English language.

I've been to a lot of forums in my time for MMORPG's, Anime, and others. To tell you the truth people that care about grammar are the trolls. They talk down to people that don't take the time to make sure every little thing is perfect. Like I said this was my two scents worth. I just wanted to make it clear to you since you didn't understand what I said in my other post.

oh... then there's a guideline for that of which I guess you didn't notice...

:? :? I don't get it... that's the EXACT SAME REASON why I made a guideline for that...

I never said proper grammar and spelling is a guideline... what I was trying to point out as a guideline is a counter to the situations you are saying... the 2nd paragraph of that guideline is a mere advise... what's wrong with that?? *scratches head*...

And also add proper punctuation to it as well.
