I just saw this article... if you may say so, well it was actually on yahoo. It said that scientist are now planning to make a prototype its called Evacuated Tube Technology or ET3's. It consist of 6 passengers in an enclosed tube traveling in 4,000m/h
Full article and info about the ET3's

I am actually wanting to see this operational one day, it sure make trains and planes very prehistoric. Why do I want to see this in the future? Well I've always wanted to go to Japan but i have a problem on how long you may have to wait 13-15 hours(of course depending were your from) this would actually very convenient.

What do you guys think? Would you ever ride it or maybe your too claustrophobic? Would it be more affordable than booking a plane?
Just cause I like the concept, I would be brave enough give it a try, well once its save but what is safe these days....

I've seen faster and it might be impossible to believe but it has already been proven a long time ago before a modern transportation came to be.
